The Robert Bly interview that launched a men’s movement in 1990… (VIDEO)

Robert Bly is an American poet, author, and considered a leader of a large men’s movement centered in mythology and poetry of the unique experience of men.

Poetry is one of the most ancient forms of transferring wisdom because it’s style of language reaches the unconscious mind where true understanding happens. The listener is allowed to have their own experience of truth by looking at the human experience themselves.

Bly was interviewed by Bill Moyers a few months before Bly’s famous Iron John: A Book About Men was published. The release of the following video launched the book and what the media called a “men’s movement”.

As Bly says in the interview, this is not about a reaction to the women’s movement of the 1960s. He is exploring something men lost 160 years ago with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution when, for the first time in history, men went to factories rather than working along side their families and communities.
